Wind is portrayed in sculptural form in Gail Gilbert's "Tethered" at Winchester Gallery. The fabric sculptures appear to be in the midst of a gust of air, evoking emotion and capturing the ethereality of wind.

"These sculptures capture heightened moments in the eternal dance of opposing natural forces – gravity and wind, weight and weightlessness, flight and rootedness. Stone and steel simultaneously compete with and embrace the woven fabric, anchoring yet somehow envying the swirling, wind-borne cloth. It is through this constant interplay, the eternal give and take, that we find balance in the world – and in ourselves," says Gilbert.

Concurrent with her career as a contemporary dancer, choreographer and actress, for the past twenty years Gail Gilbert has been making and exhibiting her visual art works. Known mostly for her whimsical ink drawings and bold portrait paintings, "Tethered" marks her first full exhibition of sculptures. These sculptures reveal the understanding of movement that she experienced as a dancer and also emphasize the intimate tensions between strong yet ephemeral forces. Gilbert's process is informed by and directly mimics her work as a choreographer, by using the same intuition and desire to create dynamic expressions of balance.

Gilbert currently acts in the role of "Nursemaid" in Cirque de Soleil's "KA." Her resume as a dancer and choreographer is extensive; she was an artist in residence in the UNLV Dance Department, and her work has been presented three different years in A Choreographer's Showcase, the partnership of Cirque de Soleil and Nevada Ballet Theater.
